The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) defines work related stress as:
"The adverse reaction people have to excessive pressures or other types of demand placed on them at work."
Stress is good for us , it helps drive us to perform but when that stress becomes overwhelming we will experience both mental and physical symptoms.
By recognising the symptoms and being able to support the person the training of line managers in mental health awareness has been proven to keep employees productive, healthier and to remain in work through times of illness.
